Silver Mountain Water Creed perfume. With the general lack of respect it receives from the fragrance community and the mixed bag of reactions illicited by this house, I have been almost "ashamed" to submit my review and acknowledged this for what it is in my eyes. One of my absolute favorite fragrances. I'm finally over it and ready to face the criticism that will no doubt insue.
Largely overlooked in the fragrance community and one of the most underrated/ Underappreciated in the Creed Lineup, isn't it is time to finally give Silver Mountain Water the recognition it deserves? More Versatile than Millesime Imperial, less generic than Himalaya, and not nearly as obnoxious as Aventus, Silver Mountain Water offers something completely unique and amazingly easy to wear. Bright, crisp, opening with a very fresh aspect. Not fresh in the typical "fresh cut fruit sense" this is more of a "fresh mountain air fresh". It has a beautiful, metallic cold water note that comes across brisk and almost chilling. Imagine sitting near a creek in the Rocky Mountains in early/mid June and the only snow left is on the Mountain peaks. You inhale deeply and exhale slowly..
The inky note often, associated with Silver Mountain Water, tends to frighten some away. In my eyes, it's a crucial element that if left out would be sorely missed. The more I wear it the more I love it and there doesn't seem to be anything out there quite like it. Versatility? Forget about it.. It's formal and refined enough for special occasions and carefree enough for a stroll through the park. The fresh aspect of SMW makes it perfect for the summer while its fridgid and brisk character makes it not feel out of place in the cooler months. While I fall into the camp that wears fragrances for themselves and not others, I can unequivocally say that I have never owned a fragrance that has garnered more positive feedback than SMW.
The comparison between this and Al Rehab Silver to me is mind boggling... SMW is. Al Rehab in comparison comes across musty and stale. It's like comparing freshly baked artisan bread to a 3 year old open box of croutons.
